Girls Go CyberStart

Age Group: 13 and up, must be enrolled in high school and identify as female

Location: Nationwide – participate remotely on your computer

Time Frame: Registration is open until April 12, 2019. Competition continues until June 28, 2019 if you qualify for all stages.

Cost: Free, with opportunities to scholarships and money for your school

Details: Girls Go CyberStart is a fun and interactive series of digital challenges designed to introduce you to the field of cybersecurity. More than 6,600 high school girls played Girls Go CyberStart in 2018 and loved it! Best of all? You will compete in three stages for the chance to win cash prizes for you and your school as well as scholarships to help pay for college.

Exelon STEM Innovation Leadership Academy

Age Group: Young Women currently enrolled in 10th or 11th grade

Time Frame: Week-long summer camp; applications are due by April 22nd

Location: University of Maryland, College Park

Cost: Free

Details: A week long, residential leadership program at University of Maryland where young women learn about the energy industry in fun and interactive ways, including field trips, hands on activities, small group discussions with women leaders from across the region, leadership development training, and an energy challenge with some great prizes for winning projects! Each participant will receive an iPad to use for Academy activities and to take home at the end of the week.

Sparks 4-H Robotics

Age Group: Elementary through high school students

Location: Westminster, MD (Carroll County Ag Center)

Time Frame: Ongoing

Cost: $40 registration fee per child; scholarships available

Details: Sparks 4-H Robotics is a Carroll County 4-H Club, and includes Vex competition team Super Sonic Sparks (s3).  The 60-person club includes 5 teams competing in various age groups.
