Board Game Maker Challenge
December 2018

Our Board Game Maker Challenge was so much fun! We partnered with Carroll County Public Library and Ting: Westminster Makerspace to launch a challenge that encouraged youth and adult participants to stretch all aspects of their creativity. Participants were charged with creating an original board game, designing both a handmade game board as well as playable rules. This challenge took incredible creativity and dedication, and our participants blew us away with their ideas and execution!

Their creations were unveiled at our Unplug and Connect family gaming night, where judges played and graded the games according to criteria involving playability, design, and use of the makerspace. The games varied across themes of survival, biodiversity, gold mining, unicorns, and more! It was incredible to see what these folks came up with.

We look forward to future maker challenges! Have an idea for the next one? Please share!
