What is Ignite?  Ignite is a “geek” event in over 100 cities worldwide.  At the events, Ignite presenters share their personal and professional passions, using 20 slide that auto-advance every 15 seconds for a total of just five minutes.  “Enlighten Us, But Make It Quick!”

IGNITE Carroll was launched in January 2013 and is sponsored by the Carroll Technology Council.  Since that time, we’ve hosted additional other IGNITE Carroll events at the Carroll Arts Center in Westminster Maryland.

The presentations have varied over the years… some serious, some comical, but all very enlightening!

TEDx Logo

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. The TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences.

At TEDx events, a screening of TED Talks videos — or a combination of live presenters and TED Talks videos — sparks deep conversation and connections at the local level. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED.

In recent years, the Carroll Tech Council has been one of only two regional organizations that has secured a license and presented a TEDx event to the community.   TEDx Eldersburg Live which has been held at Cre-a-tv Studios in Eldersburg, Maryland and is a free event to attend and it open to the public.  This is a live simulcast broadcast of the annual TED Conference.
